Chandigarh Municipal Corporation Election 2016
Chandigarh elections concluded successfully on December 2016. Chandigarh went for polling of 26 wards of the Union Territory. This time the voting percentage has been recorded as around 57 percent. In total 122 candidates are in fray, of which 67 are independent candidates.
Giving major jolt to the Congress,
which had been ruling the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation from past 14 years, BJP-SAD alliance clinched 21 municipal seats out of total 26 seat of Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh. Congress won merely 4 seats, while one seat was won by an independent candidate, who was a BJP rebel.
