| Madhyamik | Madhyamik Examination pass of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or its equivalent. |
| Language | Ability to read, write, and speak in Bengali/Nepali. (Note: Bengali language requirement is waived for candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali, as per Finance Department Notification No. 1243-F(P) dated 02-23-2016.) |
| Knowledge | Knowledge of Bengali will be tested for candidates whose mother tongue is other than Bengali/Nepali at the time of the Personality Test. Average and/or poor performance in the Bengali knowledge test may result in the cancellation of candidature. |
| Health | Must possess sound health and the ability to undertake extensive tours in rural areas of West Bengal. |
