Dumka District Court Jobs 2024: The Santal Pargana district was created in 1856 from the Bhagalpur and Birbhum districts after the historic Santal Hul of 1855. Mr. Ashley Eden served as the first Deputy Commissioner of Santal Pargana, who had both civil and criminal powers. Dumka emerged as one of the sub-districts within Santal Pargana. In 1872, Santal Pargana was established as a revenue non-regulation district with Dumka as its headquarters. Rajmahal, Godda and Deoghar were converted into sub-divisions. The powers of the Sessions Judge were transferred from the Deputy Commissioner to the Sessions Courts of Birbhum and Bhagalpur.

As a result, the jurisdiction of the Sessions Court of Santal Parganas was transferred to the Sessions Court of Bhagalpur, which ran the circuit court at Dumka. The Family Court in Dumka was inaugurated by Hon’ble Shri V.D. Narayan, Judge, Jharkhand High Court on 20th August 2003. At present, Dumka is the sub-capital of Jharkhand state and the commissioner headquarters of Santhal Pargana division which comprises six districts including Dumka district.
