UP Police SI (Confidential) Hindi Shorthand & Typing Test Process 2026
The UP Police SI (Confidential) Hindi Shorthand & Typing Test 2026 is a qualifying examination. Candidates must qualify this test to be considered for further stages of the recruitment process. The test will include Hindi shorthand dictation followed by transcription on a computer using the Hindi Inscript keyboard. Only transcription will be evaluated, and a maximum of 15% errors are permissible.

Important Information
- Only candidates who applied for Police Sub Inspector (Confidential) are eligible.
- Candidates must be proficient in computer typing.
- The Hindi Shorthand & Typing Test will be qualifying in nature.
- Exam centres will be allotted by UPPRPB.
Hindi Shorthand Test Details
- Shorthand Speed: 80 Words Per Minute
- Total Dictation: 400 Words
- Dictation Time: 05 Minutes
- Initial 1–2 minutes dictation will not be evaluated.
- Dictation will be given continuously for 05 minutes.
Transcription (Typing) Process
- Time for Transcription: 45 Minutes
- Typing Language: Hindi (Inscript Keyboard)
- Computer and keyboard will be provided at the exam centre.
- Candidates are not allowed to bring their own keyboard.
Evaluation Method
- Only the typed transcription will be evaluated.
- Shorthand notebook will be checked but no marks will be awarded.
- Up to 15% errors are allowed.
- More than 15% errors will result in disqualification.
Error Calculation Rules
- Full Errors: Wrong word, missing word, extra word, incorrect spelling.
- Half Errors: Minor spelling mistakes, punctuation errors.
- Error Percentage Formula: (Full Errors + Half Errors ÷ 2) × 100 ÷ Total Words
- Total Words for Calculation: 400 Words
