Chamba District Court Jobs 2024: Chamba is situated in the lap of the majestic Western Himalayas. In the olden days, the ruler of the state was the source of justice. He would appoint judges, magistrates, and Munsifs. He also served as the final court of appeal and, at times, as the court with unlimited original jurisdiction.
The authority to grant or withhold judicial and criminal powers, as well as to determine pecuniary and territorial jurisdiction, rested with him. However, under British rule, death sentences issued by the ruler needed confirmation from the commissioner of Lahaul, who also had the power to inspect the Court.
After the merger, the Chamba Estate became a separate district, and the court of the learned Sub-Judge was established. Mr. Dhani Ram was the first Sub-Judge appointed to this Court. In 1960, Mr. Bansi Dhar Sharma was appointed as the Senior Subordinate Judge-cum-Assistant Sessions Judge of Chamba. He held this position until 1962.
